Originally from Scotland, where Soccer (football) is the Hockey equivalent, Richie has played soccer for over 40 years, and continues to play in the Upper Ottawa Valley Adults Soccer League. From an early age, Richie was interested in leadership within the game, being named Captain of his local adult team at the age of 18 and then becoming an active committee member of Heriot Watt University Football Club. Richie undertook the role of Secretary, Vice Club Captain, and in his final year Club Captain where his highlight was winning the British Universities BUSA Vase tournament. At the age of 25, Richie established a new adult team in his hometown, with a focus of providing soccer opportunities for 14+ youths, supported by adult coaching. As Head Coach, this is where Richie’s love for coaching really developed. Upon moving to Canada in 2018, Richie immediately volunteered to coach with PMSC in the 2018/2019 indoor season and had his first outdoor season in 2019. Richie worked with the previous Competitive Director to establish the PMSC Intermediate Program and was the first Head Coach to enter his team into the Ottawa EOSL Development League. In 2025, Richie joined the PMSC BoD and became the Competitive Director. With a clear focus on continuing to build upon the excellent foundations that have been established to grow the PMSC Competitive Program, Richie is excited to see where the Competitive Program takes local youth next.
